Richard "Brock" Wallace Powers

Richard (Brock) Wallace Powers, age 84, passed away peacefully at the Christopher House in Austin, TX on Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Brock was hired by the Arabian American Oil Co (Aramco), Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, from 1947 to 1949. He was elected President of Aramco in November 1973.

It is with great sadness that I write to say that Dr. Peter Gubser has lost his battle with cancer. Peter was not just a fellow laborer in the vineyard of trying to place the relationship between the United States and the Arab world on the firmest footing possible. He was not only a great teacher, scholar, and lucid writer as well as author of several very good books on Lebanon, Jordan, and Saladin.

Samuel G Bednorz Sr. ,WWII Veteran, 89, passed away peacefully in the home he built in Alamogordo on Friday, September 3, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Bednorz, his parents, Joe and Marie Bednorz, his sister Lucy and his brother Ted.

Rhea Putnam, 89, of Holiday, Florida died September 1, 2010. He was Station Superintendent in Turaif, and later worked in Dhahran for Saudi Aramco. He retired in 1980.

J.P. was born on October 31, 1933, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Charlie T. and Mattie Lou (Biggie) Murphy.

All of us in the Nawwab family are very sad to hear of the passing away of our beloved friend Jack Coley (Clinton Jackson "Jack" Coley, Jr.) in Alexander City, Alabama, on Thursday, August 12, 2010. He was 76. May he rest in peace. I talked to Jack on the phone just a few weeks ago. At the time, he was stoically optimistic about his long, painful struggle with lung cancer. Despite his illness, he was as ebullient and witty as ever.
