Iris "Mickey" Hein, age 80, of Tomahawk, Wisconsin, passed away March 3, 2010 at her son's home in Tomahawk.

Mickey was born December 19, 1929 in Plain to Joseph and Elizabeth (Gruber) Meister.

She married John F. Hein in 1952 in Plain, WI; he passed away March 23, 1984. Mickey formerly lived in Long Beach, California, later living in Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia, and finally settling in Tomahawk in 1962, where she and her husband owned and operated Inshalla Country Club for many years.

She attended St. Mary's Nursing School in Madison in 1951, receiving her degree as a Registered Nurse. She was employed as a surgical nurse at Seaside Memorial Hospital in Long Beach, California, finishing her nursing career at Golden Age Nursing Home in Tomahawk.

She was very active as a hospice volunteer. Mickey was a member of the Fawn Lake Ladies' Group, St. Mary's Catholic Church, and the St. Mary's Bridge Club. Mickey loved to travel, and in her younger years did so extensively while living in Saudi Arabia, visiting Africa, Asia, and Europe. Later in life, her faith took her to Megegoria.

Survivors include son John (Peggy) Hein of Tomahawk; four sisters: Betty Jo (Mike) Lins of Waunakee; Verda (John) Schmitz of Plain; Agnes Estreen of Eau Claire; and Joan (Delmar) Ring of Plain; three brothers: Jack (Lynn) Meister of Muscoda; Harley (Betty Ann) Meister of Chatham, Illinois; and Buddy (Ruth) Meister of Madison.

Mickey is further survived by two grandchildren: Andrew Hein, Tomahawk, and Meghan Hein, Minneapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Mike, brothers Don and Stan Meister, sister Grace Meudt, and brothers-in-law Joe Estreen and Bob Meudt.
