Honorato Salazar, Jr.
Honorato Salazar, Jr. was born on June 17, 1934, in Philips, Bukidnon, Philippines, to Honorato Salazar, Sr. and Salud Abrogueña Salazar. He has a brother Romeo and a sister Ann Gilda. He was married to Virginia Salazar, and they had five children together: Antonio Francisco, Marie Jessica, Giral Albino, Maureen Cecilia, and Rafael Vincent. Now, Honorato has 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Honorato received his degree in mechanical engineering from Mapúa Institue of Technology. He worked as an engineer in Del Monte, Philippines, Bechtel Co., and Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO).
Honorato was born with a weak heart, which ultimately led to his critical health condition for a few decades. Despite this, never once had he complained about his poor health; he fully accepted every aspect of his life. This truly spoke to his character, as he was noted to be deeply religious, patient, kind, carefree, and most of all, simple.
He held five wishes deeply in his heart, which were to enjoy the presence and company of his five children altogether, to travel with his wife to Jerusalem, experience Disneyland and see Mickey Mouse with his family, to see his two sons living in the Philippines whom he had not seen for more than 20 years, and lastly, to be able to eat and enjoy a whole "lechon" (roasted pig) on his birthday. Although most of these wishes were not fulfilled in his lifetime, Honorato still lived by his quote, "I love the life I live", up until his very last breath.
Honorato died peacefully at Carlmont Garden on July 16, 2013 in the company of his brother. Although he will be dearly missed, we find peace and comfort in our hearts knowing that he is now home with God.
