Alfred Leon Kelso, Jr.
Alfred Leon Kelso, Jr. was born on March 29, 1938, to Bertha and Alfred Kelso in Flatonia, Texas. On October 8, 2011 he went to be with Our Lord. He retired from Celanese and South Texas Nuclear Project in Bay City. He was a mechanical supervisor. He spent six and one-half years in Saudi Arabia with Aramco.
Alfred was one of the founders of Bay City Baptist Church, also church treasurer and trustee for many years. He was married to Connie Hutchens Kelso for fifty- four years. Al loved to deer hunt and fish.
He is survived by three children; Brenda Barron and husband Pat, Melissa Greenhill and husband Ted, Russell Kelso and wife Crystal; six grandchildren; Nacona Beasley, Justin Beasley and wife Kelley, Greg Greenhill and wife Marsha, Erik Greenhill and wife Rachel, Dustin Kelso and wife Sierra and Charles Kelso; five great-grandchildren, Austin and Coltin Beasley, Rylee Greenhill, Brett Greenhill and Ember Kelso.
Alfred was preceded in death by his son, Dusty Kelso; parents, Alfred and Bertha Kelso; and sister, Clara Vickers.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at Bay City Baptist Church, 1818 Marguerite, Bay City, with Rev. Lee Watson officiating. Graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at the Oakhill Cemetery in Flatonia, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons; Justin Beasley, Greg Greenhill, Erik Greenhill, Dustin Kelso, Charles Kelso; Friends, Wayne Dekle and Jim Weaver.
