Steve Hardy, 69, of Gainesville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 24. He passed away quickly at his home. He is survived by his sisters, Billie Fetterhoff (Dean) and Ouida Graves; his wife, Sandra; his sons, Chris and Lance; and his five grandchildren, Rebecca, Megan, Melissa, Alex, and Lydia.

Steve was born in Jackson, Mississippi and graduated from Ben Lippen High School in Asheville, North Carolina. In Siloam Springs, Arkansas he met his wife and graduated from John Brown University. After receiving his Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, he completed a Master's in Systems Management at Florida Institute of Technology. His engineering career included work in aerospace during its heyday and in oil production.

He greatly enjoyed teaching adult Bible studies, gardening, photography, astronomy, traveling and following Major League Baseball. His favorite activities in retirement were spending time with his family and volunteering as an English Conversation Partner and mentor with international visiting scholars and students at the University of Florida. His deep desire to share his faith in Christ led him into many thoughtful conversations and long-lasting friendships.
