Robert Wayne Barrett
Robert Wayne Barrett was born in Stafford, Texas on May 28, 1941 to parents Robert Dan Barrett and Fannie Mae (Johnson) Barrett. At the age of 75, he entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 2, 2017 in Houston, Texas.
Wayne was preceded in death by both parents and son Louis Wayne. He is survived by his wife, Betty Barrett; sons, Robert Wayne Barrett, Jr. and wife Richelle, Randall Louis Barrett and wife Delores; step-son, Tommy Sablatura; grandchildren, Derek and wife Ashley, Seth, Baylie and Lyndsie Barrett, Dominique Crawford, Drake and Catalina Brown, Jonathan and wife Stephanie, Michelle, Amie and Curtis Sablatura; great grandchildren, Eathan and Hannah Sablatura.
Wayne Barrett grew up in Pasadena, Texas and graduated from Deer Park High School in 1959. In February of 1960, he enlisted in the Navy and served as a cook, winning awards and commendations for his culinary skill. In January of 1964, he received an honorable discharge, leaving the Navy as an E-4 with a Good Conduct Medal.
An instrument tech by trade, Wayne worked in the petrochemical industry in southeast Texas. In 1974, he hired on with Aramco and with his family moved to Saudi Arabia. While living overseas, Wayne was able to travel the world.
In the early '80's, Wayne Barrett moved back to the states making Houston, Texas his home. Ever the problem solver, Mr. Barrett excelled in his profession. With the heart of a servant, he lived to serve others and as an accomplished chef, his greatest joy was cooking for his friends and family.
Wayne was also a gifted storyteller and loved good conversation. A loving father and dedicated husband, Wayne Barrett loved his family unconditionally. From an early age, Wayne was a spirit-filled follower of Jesus Christ and taught his children to love and serve God.
In his later years, Wayne, a 33 year resident of Spring Branch, devoted his time to loving his wife and serving his friends and family. His passing has left a hole that cannot be filled.
Matthew 25:21 His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.'
Family and friends will gather and celebrate this wonderful man's life in the sanctuary of BridgePoint Bible Church, 13277 Katy Freeway in Houston, 77079 at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017, with Reverend Tom Douthit and Reverend Wayne Martin officiating.
