Robert D. Klein
Robert David Klein was born in Mobridge on January 24, 1932 to John J. and Inga (Bjornstad) Klein. Bob attended the Mobridge school and graduated in June, 1950. He attended Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen graduating in August, 1955. While going to college Bob taught music in Conde and Clark, SD. He then went to Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. graduating with a Master of Music degree on June 13, 1960. Immediately after his senior recital at Northwestern, he was flown to New York for the final interview with American-Arabian Oil Company. He left for Saudi Arabia for a twenty-seven year tour at Dhahran, Ras Tanura, with teaching a number of classes with an emphasis in music. During that time Bob traveled to one hundred and seven different countries.
Following retirement from Aramco, he and friends started up the Ascot Theater in Littleton, CO. He returned to Mobridge, SD and was active in Mason's and Yelduz Shriners. He enjoyed singing with the Yelduz Chanters and was instrumental in helping them receive gold ratings since 2006 for every Midwest Shrine Summer Session. In International Competition the Chanters took first place in Denver, CO., Charlotte, NC., and Indianapolis, IN, and were awarded the First Place Trophy that is now at the Yelduz Shrine in Aberdeen, SD.
He received the Eagle Badge and two Palms when he was in Boys Scouts and through out his life he received many more awards.
Bob is survived by his nephew Robert Collins of Coarsegold, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; John J. and Inga Klein, two sisters, Gail Collins and Betty Teigs, and one brother John W. Klein.
Memorial service for Robert (Bob) D. Klein, age 81, of Mobridge will be Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be Friday, December 20, 2013 at 5:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Kesling Funeral Home. Robert passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Mobridge Regional Hospital.
