Riejan Hendrika Janna Bakker Edmison, 63 of Van Buren, Missouri died Sunday, August 4, 2013 from dementia in Houston Texas surrounded by family. She was born October 5, 1949 in Dordrecht, Holland. As a child, she lived in Holland, Indonesia, New Zealand and Libya. She moved to North Carolina in 1963 with her parents. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and a Masters in Speech Pathology from the University of North Carolina. Riejan married the love of her life Allen Edmison in 1973. They continued to travel living in Belgium, Nigeria, France, Switzerland and Saudi Arabia with their two sons, Ty and Adam along for the ride.

Riejan was a speech therapist and elementary school teacher for several years; she was a loving mother and sister, a fabulous decorator and hostess and an avid traveler. She had a vibrant, generous spirit that touched the lives of many around the world and will be sorely missed by her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Jan Bakker; mother, Tina Bakker; and brother, Joop Bakker. She is survived by her husband, Allen; two sons, Ty and his fiancé, Kara; Adam and his wife, Nina; brother Dr. John Bakker and wife Patti; sister, Michelle Bakker Pridgen and her husband Don; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Bakker Rogers and her husband Al.

A memorial service will be held September 21st at 13:30 PM at her home on the current River in Van Buren Missouri.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to The Salvation Army or the charity of your choice.
