Patsy Ruth Cappelle

Pat Cappelle died peacefully at her home in Napa, California on July 25, 2013.

Pat was born on July 11, 1937 in Verden, Oklahoma to Ralph and Ruth Miller. Pat was the younger sister of Pete Miller. Her parents moved the family to San Pedro, California in February of 1942. She recalled many fond memories of growing up in San Pedro attending Bandini Elementary where she was "Queen of the May". At the age of 12, Pat and her parents lived in Saudi Arabia for 3 years where her father worked for Aramco Oil. It was during that time that she was able to experience a bit of world traveling.

When they returned to California she attended Westchester High until 1955. During a summer job at Cabrillo Beach Café, Pat met her future husband Sam Cappelle. During that summer she became Sam's sole reason to go to the beach. Sam and Pat were married on April 14, 1956. Their family began growing when their daughter Kim was born in 1957. Their son Billy was born in 1958.

Pat had an excellent sense of style which she put to good use as a window trimmer and consultant to places like Knit Togs, Kanaster's, Sam Martin's and Broadway clothing stores. In 1969, she became a licensed Cosmetologist.

The main focus and passion for Pat was the importance of family and friendships. Throughout her married life if anyone needed a helping hand or needed to be nurtured to health it was to Pat's house they came for loving care. She was the heart and strength of her family. She instilled in her children and grandchildren the strong sense of love and commitment to family. "Nana" became the maternal guiding force for Billy's children and you see her handiwork in the quality of people they have become. She has left a large hole to fill but has also left so many, many wonderful memories.

Pat is survived by her husband, Sam of Napa; daughter, Kim and her partner Judy of Napa; grandchildren, Ryan and Alex Cappelle, Reanna and Zakrey Kennedy; and 5 great-grandchildren all of Southern California. She was predeceased by her son, Bill, parents and brother.

Funeral services will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park on August 2 at 1:00 pm in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local hospice provider.
