Patricia (Patty) Elizabeth Hansen

Patricia (Patty) Elizabeth Hansen, 57, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 18, 2014. Patty was born at Wright-Patterson AFB near Dayton, Ohio to Marquis and Mildred Powell. Her family lived there before moving to San Bernardino, CA and then eventually to Houston, Texas.

Her public schooling had her very active in theatrical school activities. She graduated from Dobie High School and then worked in the oil industry leaving a career with Fluor Engineering after she married and moved to Saudi Arabia. She spent a total of 17 years in the Middle East working and starting her family where two of her four daughters were born.  During this time she went around the world twice traveling throughout Europe, the Middle East and parts of Asia. She was active in the community from acting and directing plays with the local theater group, teaching Sunday schools classes for children, soccer mom, and softball mom and hosting numerous dinner parties for friends.

She moved back to the US briefly and gave birth to twins and then returned to Saudi Arabia again managing the household of four girls and coaching them through their activities and school. She finally moved back to the US and watched her older daughter graduate from Texas A&M. Her youngest daughter recently graduated from Sam Houston State University.  As she assisted the last three girls in completing high school and starting college, she also returned to college and finished her Bachelor of Science in Geography, Magna Cum Laude.  She did some consulting on redefining the "911" Map throughout the greater Houston metropolitan area.  Her travels over the last years included Puerta Vallarta, the Grand Canyon, Chicago, Mount Rushmore, Alaska, British Columbia, VA., Texas Hill Country, Pikes Peak, and Niagara Falls.

She loved Whataburger Juniors, Starburst and Hot Tamale candies. She loved "Little House on the Prairie," "Star Trek" and really loved watching shows with her daughters. She loved her bible study group at Hope Lutheran church in Friendswood, Texas. She was the very best mom and wife who was extremely devoted to her daughters and husband all of whom loved her dearly. She also loved her dear neighbors who loved her back very deeply. She as well loved her sister and two brothers and would share stories of them with great laughter. She was so educated and smart and learned not to ride go carts with Chuck or make a bet with Rick since he never paid up.

She is survived by her husband Ralph (Rick) and four daughters Kelli, Nichole, Samantha and Alexandra; her sister Peggy and husband Bill Sanders of Pflugerville, TX; niece Rachel Sanders and nephew Will Sanders, his wife Hannah and their children; her brother Charles Powell and wife Janet of Florida; her brother Michael Powell and wife Sandy, and niece Grace of League City, TX; her brother-in-law Mike Hansen and wife Dottie, her nephews Michael and wife Amber, Royce and wife Andrea; and niece Veronica; her loving sister-in-law Mary Marquis, her niece Alicia and husband Ed and their child, Eddie; her brother in law Chuck Hansen and wife Sharon, her nephew Eric and wife Lana and their children Sam, Ava, and Jake; her niece Sarah and husband Tommy and their child, Ty; her brother in law Bryan who she loved and his wife Catherine, her nephew Tyler; her niece Michelle and husband Mark Bridges and their children Zachary, Kaitlynn, and Ashley; and her sister in law Debbie Hansen; many other relatives and cherished friends.
