Morley Charles Walkden
Morley Charles Walkden passed away peacefully August 15, 2013 at the Foothills Country Hospice after a battle with cancer.
Morley was born in Brandon Manitoba on August 30, 1944 and raised by the late Raymond and Irene Walkden. Taking engineering at the University of Manitoba he attained the "Iron Ring" that he wore with pride. He accepted a job offer (one of many) with Texaco in Alberta. He married Ruth Stubel, moved to Calgary, and shortly after, on to Edmonton. After 5 years with the company he received the opportunity to work for Aramco in Saudi Arabia and didn't hesitate. Morley was a remarkable engineer and an amazing writer. Aramco took notice of his hard work and dedication to the company. By the time of his retirement, Morley had become the assistant to the Senior Vice President of Exploration and Producing. It was an incredible achievement.
Living oversees gave Morley the opportunity to travel to many exotic places and it quickly became one of his biggest hobbies. He traveled to Thailand, Greece, Dubai, Hong Kong, Egypt and many many more. Asia being one of his favourite destinations.
In November 1980 Morley was blessed with his first daughter, Alison, and in June 1984 he received his second bundle, Carly. He didn't wait long before he started to share the world with his two girls, making memories in such places as Switzerland, Thailand, Denmark, and Costa Rica, just to name a few.
After leaving Saudi Arabia, Morley moved to Calgary and lived in a beautiful home with an amazing garden. He loved working outside, landscaping and planting a variety of wonderful flowers and plants. For the last few years of his life Morley spent most of his time in the garden with his girls.
