Monte Glenn Hawkins
Mr. Monte Glenn Hawkins, general foreman, Structure Drill, Oil Operations department, died last Wednesday at about 1 a.m.
Mr. Hawkins joined Aramco after serving with the Army between 1942 and 1945 and arrived at Dhahran in July, 1946. He had been with SOCAL from 1933 to 1942.
He is survived by his wife, Helen, who resides at 1346 West 88th St., Los Angeles, Calif. The couple had no children.
Owing to circumstances brought about by my long vacation, I have just received a letter from Mrs. Monte Hawkins dated 15 December 1954, in which she conveys her thanks and appreciation to all of Monte's friends in Arabia for their expression of sympathy, and especially to those who, in carrying out the arrangements "made Monte's departure from we who loved him such a beautiful one."
Despite the delay involved, I should appreciate your printing this letter in the Sun and Flare since no lapse of time can erase the memories and friendships that Monte left with us here; and, with apologies to Mrs. Hawkins, her appreciation is received in the same spirit of friendship that made all of us truly grateful to be able to help.
Sincerely, F. W. Ohliger Dhahran
