Melissa Suzanne Arlt

Melissa Suzanne Arlt of Humble passed away on September 4, 2015 in Humble after a lengthy battle with diabetes. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Tommy Michael Arlt, also of Humble.

She was born in Nashville, Arkansas on April 29, 1947 to Jack Eldon Alderson and Bettye June MacArthur Alderson. She was a graduate of Tidehaven High School in El Maton, Texas, and graduated cum laude from Sam Houston State University in 1972 with a double major in theatre and history after graduating from Wharton County Junior College. She retired from Barnes and Nobles where she served as a lead bookseller after residing 7 years in Saudi Arabia where her husband worked for ARAMCO and where she was active in the theatre group as a performer, set designer, and director. After returning to the Humble area, she frequently worked with technical theatre for the Kingwood Pops.

Melissa is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, her brother Mike (Linda) Alderson of Louise TX, and sister-in law Phyllis (Arlt) & Anthony Hlavinka of East Bernard, Texas. Other survivors include her nieces and nephews and their spouses and families: Amy Simms of Houston, Scott Alderson of Houston, Skeet Alderson of Pine Hurst, Bryan Hlavinka of East Bernard, Steven Hlavinka of East Bernard, and Thomas Hlavinka of East Bernard along with sixteen great-nephews, and 5 great nieces.

Memorial services will be Thursday, September 10, at 10 a.m. at Rosewood Funeral Home in Humble with her nephew, Reverend Skeet Alderson, pastor at Tomball Bible Church officiating.

The family requests donations made in her memory to the American Diabetes Association at Diabetes.org. The family requests no flowers. Rosewood Funeral Home of Humble is handling the arrangements.
