Lawrence Barnes
Lawrence (Larry) Barnes passed away on September 23, 2023 at the age of 100. Larry joined Aramco in 1947 as an electrical engineer. He held many positions during his thirty years with Aramco, and was the Superintendent of Transportation when he retired in 1977. For many years Larry was a news announcer for Aramco, signing off each report with his signature, “I’m Larry Barnes.” After retirement, he wrote his well-known memoir of his years with Aramco, “Looking Back Over My Shoulder.” Larry was predeceased by his wife Marion, and is survived by his children, Dean, Gary and Lauri.
