Lance C. (Bill) Lundy
Memorial Services were held Sunday in Dhahran for Lance C. (Bill) Lundy, 46, who was killed about 8 a.m. on January 7 when the pickup truck he was driving overturned. Lundy, a supervising craftsman in the Equipment Services Division, Maintenance Shops Department, was en route to a maintenance assignment when the accident occurred near Hofuf.
Interment will be in Mr. Lundy's home community of Oklahoma City, Okla.
Mr. Lundy was born in Oklahoma City on March 27, 1923. He graduated from Choctaw, Okla., high school in 1942 and joined the U.S. Navy, serving until his honorable discharge in 1945. He worked in Oklahoma City as a diesel mechanic, became a Civil Service employee assigned to Tinker Field as an aviation mechanic, then joined an Oklahoma City auto agency as a mechanic.
He became an Aramco employee in 1953 and reported to the Transportation Department, Ras Tanura, as a truck mechanic. He was transferred to Dhahran in 1958, then to Abqaiq in 1965, returning to Dhahran two years later. His various assignments in maintenance and repair operations included about 1 1/2 years with the Exploration Department as an exploration camp services controlman.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia, and three children - Darrell G., 22, who is with the U. S. Navy; Cynthia Sue, 19, a sophmore at the University of Oklahoma; and Jeffrey, 9, who attends the Dhahran School. A twin brother, Vance E. (Pete) Lundy, formerly worked for Aramco in Ras Tanura and is living now in Oklahoma City.
