John Wheeler

John Wheeler, surrounded by loving family, passed away from complications of Parkinson's disease. He was in the U.S. Airforce from 1946-1949. In 1953, he graduated from Texas A&M as a geological and petroleum engineer. He worked for Aramco Oil Company, Berridge Texaco Distributing, and New Mexico D.O.T. He's preceded in death by Dolores Fischer Wheeler, grandson Clifford Wheeler, and sister Suzanne Wheeler Nance. John is survived by his beloved wife Carol, sons Keith (Melissa) and Stan (Delena), daughter Dierdre (Leighton) Cornish, brother-in-law Garth Stafford, grandchildren Christopher, Darcy, Wesley, Gabe, Melanie, Chad (Kelly) Erickson, nephew Joseph Nance, and niece Elizabeth Nance Williams. John will be deeply missed by his family and many friends, some dating back to school days in Gilmer, Texas. He chose Santa Fe in 1988 to be his forever home. A memorial service will be held at the National Cemetery on September 15, 2017 at 11:00am. Celebration of Life Service will be at 12:45pm at the Unitarian Universalist (107 W. Barcelona). In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that any donation in John's name be given to New Mexico Parkinson's Coalition, P.O. Box 35091, Albq NM 87176.
