John Kriesmer
John Kriesmer was a remarkably gentle, caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather we called Poppi. He was born May 9, 1926, in Paterson, New Jersey, and passed away April 1, 2013, in San Diego, California.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years, Joyce; children Cindy Peters Carr of Cardiff, California, formerly of Kingwood and Houston; Pam (Peter) Graves of Minnetonka, Minnesota; Larry (Carol) Kriesmer of San Diego, California; 8 grandchildren including Carrie Carr (Matt) Reese of Houston and 2 great grandchildren.
After serving in the United States Navy during WW II, he graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) as a mechanical engineer and decided to try a two year stint with an oil company in Saudi Arabia. Thirty-two years later, he retired from ARAMCO, a company he thoroughly enjoyed working with. He and Joyce met in Arabia and were married on Bahrain Island. All three children were born and raised in Arabia.
After retiring from ARAMCO in 1981, John and Joyce relocated to Houston, where he managed the office of Saudi Arabian Overseas Services, Inc. (SAOSI) for another 15 years before settling in Escondido, California in 1998. John and Joyce have been residents of The Remington Club I in Rancho Bernardo since their move in the fall of 2011.
A private family service is planned. Memorial donations may be made to Horizon Hospice of San Diego.
John will be missed and loved by his family forever.
