Jimmie Lee Nix
Jimmie Lee Nix went home to be with the Lord on October 2, 2017.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Havis and Mamie Nix, as well as his brothers DeWayne and Jerald. Jimmie was born on November 16, 1940, in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Goliad High School in 1958 where he played football and ran track. He attended Texas A&I University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering. In the fall of 1961, he met the love of his life, Betty Lynn Caffall, and married her in June of 1963. In January of 1970, he moved his family of five to Saudi Arabia and began the adventure of a lifetime. The next decade was filled with travel, excitement, and camping trips in the desert. He retired from Aramco in 1999 after a 36-year career in the oil industry. His retirement was spent traveling the world, golfing, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren.
Jimmie is survived by his bride of 54 years, Betty Nix, as well as his children Kim (Bruce) Hurlbut, Gerry Nix, and Marilyn (David) Maddox. His seven grandchildren, Joshua, Aaron, James Michael, Jacob, Jaimie, Jack, and Zane were his greatest earthly blessings and he adored being their grandfather.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 2:00pm at Cypress Bible Church (11711 Cypress North Houston Road, Cypress, Texas 77429)In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Jimmie’s honor to Cypress Bible Church’s Missions Ministry.
