James David Pipes
James David Pipes, 81 of Old River, TX passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024 in Kingwood, Texas. He was born April 12, 1943 to William Pipes and Ethel (Lynch) in Redd Water, Texas.
JD made more friends, caught more fish and killed more deer than any other we know. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. There was a right way to do things, a wrong way to do things and of course, the only way that mattered, the "JD way of doing things".
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Pipes of Old River; son, Clint Pipes and Stacey of Cove; brothers, Harvey Pipes of Call, Tommy Pipes of Del Rio; sisters, Doris Nell Wiley of Call, Maralea Hill of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Payton, Paige, Chason; great grandchild, Presley Herridge.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Billy Pipes, and Sonny Pipes.
James hired in with Humble Oil in 1967. In 1979 he took his family and worked in Saudi Arabia for Saudi Aramco for two years. Upon return to Baytown, he took a supervisory role until he retired in 1998. James was a member to the Goose Creek Masonic Lodge in Baytown, Texas. James was an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoors man. He spent a lot of time at his "happy place" lake house on Sam Rayburn. Most of all he never met a stranger, If you knew JD you had a friend forever.
Funeral service will be 12 pm Tuesday, July 9, 2024, Trout Creek Baptist Church, 1509 FM 1004, Call, Texas 75933, with visitation beginning at 11 am prior to service.
