Jack Foster Sattler
Jack Foster Sattler passed away peacefully at Providence Hospital in Mission Viejo, California on July 8th, 2024. Born in Detroit, Michigan, and raised in Traverse City, he graduated from Michigan State University in 1969 with a Master’s Degree in Social Work. For the next six years, he served in the United States Army, followed by counseling positions at the VA hospital in San Francisco and Washoe Medical Center in Reno, NV.
In October 1982 he accepted an offer from Saudi Aramco, and for the next 20 years enjoyed the expat life and the unique professional experiences afforded him at the community counseling center in Dhahran.
Upon departure from Arabia in 2003 Jack and his wife Judith settled in San Clemente, CA. Within days he started working in the Family Advocacy Clinic at Camp Pendleton Marine Base, retiring from that position in 2019.
Jack was an avid traveler, marathon runner, great cook (most notably Asian cuisine), a student of Buddhist philosophy and a consummate professional who loved his chosen vocation.
Jack is survived by his wife, Judith, his sons Jason (Julie), Chad (Jody), grandchildren Haley, Hayden, McCoy, and Sawyer, and a great grandson, Kayan, born just days after Jack died. Jack is also survived by his sister, Julie Ann, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Julis Sattler and his twin brother, Jim.
Jack was a wonderful husband, friend and colleague. His loyalty, patience and constancy are the hallmarks of his legacy. He is assuredly one of the most gentle, peaceful souls who ever graced this earth.
