Gus Joseph Elbert III, 75, of Hedgesville, died Thursday, April 21, 2011, at his residence.

Born June 23, 1935 in Elyria, Ohio, he was the son of the late Gus Joseph Elbert, Jr. and Virginia May Wicker Elbert.

He was a graduate of the University of Maryland and retired from ARAMCO as a systems analyst with 20 years of service in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.

He was a Past Master of Desert Rats Lodge #882, F.A. and A.M., of Saudi Arabia and a member of the American Canadian Masonic Grand Lodge of Germany.

Mr. Elbert was a veteran of the U. S. Army.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, RoseAnn Salva Elbert; four daughters, Patricia Weiler and husband, Bradley, Karen Lahrime, Tresi Walker and husband, Chris, and Amy Ellison and husband, Rob; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Marshall Elbert; three sisters, Judy Brown, Sandra Whitman and Janet George.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Bond.

Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 29, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. James D. Riley, Jr., officiating.
