Frank Richard Cowan
Services for Frank Richard Cowan, 65, of Trinity were held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2013, at the Chapel in the Pines with the Rev. Leroy Brown, officiating. Burial followed in the East-ern Gate Cemetery in Trinity. Mr. Cowan died unexpect-edly on Tuesday, June 11, while visiting Alaska with his wife, Teresa. He was born in 1948 in Coronado, Calif., and graduate from Kailua High School in Hawaii. Frank was born in Coro-nado, California in 1948. Graduated from Kailua High School, HI. Shortly after starting college he joined the army where he attended pilot training and went on to fly in two tours of duty as a Warrant Officer/Pilot flying helicopters in Vietnam. He was awarded two Bronze Star Medals for his service. Upon returning to civilian life, he entered college at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University to attain a B.S. de-gree in Airport Management. Mr. Cowan flew for PHI and Arabian Helicopters in the U.S. and Saudi Arabia. After obtaining his commercial pi-lot's license in the U.S., he and his wife spent seven years in Saudi Arabia working for ARAMCO. The couple then returned to Houston to start his 24-year career as a pilot for Continental Airlines. He re-tired from Continental in 2009. A resident and active com-munity member in Trinity for 13 years, Mr. Cowan was the 2010 Republican Party nomi-nee for the position of Trinity County Judge. He was known for his love of family as well as camping, fishing and generally the out-door life. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Teresa Cowan; a son, Justin Dey; two daugh-ters, Rachel Perlman and Amanda Worton; his brother, Mitchell; a sister, Leslie; and 7 1/2 grandchildren, Daniel and Joshua Dey, Julia and Sophia Perlman, Savannah and Tessa Worton and Kiely Dey and baby brother or sister on the way. Pallbearers included Mitch Cowan, Justin Dey, Eddie Renfro, Stephen Conley and John Bruce Eiler. Waller-Thornton Funeral Home of Trinity directed the arrangements.
