David Vaughn Jasper

David Vaughn Jasper was born March 18, 1958, in Emmett, Idaho, and died Aug. 18, 2014, in Downings, County Donegal, Ireland.

David attended elementary school in New Meadows, Idaho, and junior high and high school in Lewiston. He attended Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, then received an associate degree from Columbia Basin College in Pasco in 1979. He then completed a bachelor of science degree from the University of Idaho in Moscow in 1981.

David married Kathlyn Tuschoff in Clarkston in February 1981; they were divorced in June 2006.

David is survived by his children, Jennifer Jasper, Christopher Jasper and Elizabeth Jasper; parents Vaughn and June Jasper; sister Penny Jacks and her husband Ken Jacks and nephew Trevor; sister Wanda Jasper; and brothers Brett Jasper, and Mark Jasper and his wife Jessica Lozano Jasper and niece Emily and nephew Jared.

David had a strong math and science aptitude, which led to much success in his field. Since moving to Houston in 1981, David held various positions in software development, support and management with companies including Shell Oil, Aramco Services Company, Exxon and Aspen Technology. Most recently, he was executive vice president at M3 Technology.

David was a member of Champions Golf Club in Houston since 1985 and a former member and club champion at Walden on Lake Conroe Golf Club. From early in life, David was an accomplished athlete, participating in track, basketball and golf. He received golf scholarships and was a leading player on his college teams and in regional amateur tournaments, often playing alongside his dad and sister Penny. He enjoyed a lifelong passion for golf with his comrades here and abroad.

David visited more than 15 countries for business, golf, and pleasure and made friends everywhere he went. He made people laugh and loved sharing stories with lifelong friends and strangers alike, especially about his three children, whom he loved dearly.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Lewiston Golf and Country Club on the outdoor patio. Come join us with your memories of David to share in an open microphone ceremony held by Vaughn and June Jasper and family.
