David Henry Morris

HOUSTON, TX - Dr. David Henry Morris, age 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and his cherished wife on Friday, September 22, 2023. He graduated from Paschel High School in Fort Worth, TX in 1961 and received his BS from Texas Wesleyan University in 1963, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order Fraternity. He received his DDS from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1968, with a certificate in Periodontics awarded in 1970. David volunteered for Army service during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Major, stationed in Hanau, West Germany, serving as a periodontist.

David married the late Linda “Susie” Morris in 1966, two girls were born from this union. After having a successful practice in San Antonio, TX, for nearly 20 years David accepted a job in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia with the Saudi Aramco Oil Company in 1993 In 1999, David met the love of his life, his partner and soulmate, Dr. Gay Anne Morris. Married on the moors, in the Scottish Highlands in Inverness, together they explored the globe with a matching thirst for adventure. From tussles with monkeys in India, climbing Kilimanjaro, dodging arrows in Borneo, and living six years in Mouley-Bousselham, Morocco, the two finally settled in Houston in 2011. David and Gay were devoted to helping those in need, providing charity dental services to many, from nomad children in the Sahara Desert to the homeless here in Houston. They also shared their many talents with Between Jobs Ministry and Hope Center.

Dr. Morris is survived by his beloved wife, Gay Morris, his daughters Brook Teal and Elizabeth Austin, his son-in-law Robert Austin, his step-sons Benjamin Hatfield and Hunter Hatfield, his step-daughter Courtney Hatfield, his grandchildren Avery Teal, Thomas Hatfield, Brannon Hatfield, Robby Austin, and Garrett Austin, his sisters Linda Meador and Marci Schuman, his nephews Bill Meador, Steven Meador, Daniel Schuman, Mark Schuman, and Adam Schuman, and many loving cousins.
