Clint Hern Passes Away at 81
Saudi Aramco Annuitant, Clinton Hern died on Sunday, February 11, at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, Texas at age 81.
He was born January 13, 1926, in Orient, South Dakota, to the late Howard E. and Nellie I. Hern. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and received his bachelor's degree in 1947 from South Dakota School of Mines.
He retired from Arabian American Oil Co. after 34 years in Saudi Arabia, The Netherlands and Texas. Clint was General Manager of Construction/Operations when Yanbu Gas Plant was built. He retired to Tyler in 1985.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., Saturday, February 19 at the Lloyd James Funeral Home chapel, 1011 East First Street, Tyler, Texas with the Rev. Stuart Baskin officiating.
Curt is survived by his wife of 51 years, Eve Kennedy Hern, Tyler; son Curt Hern, Austin; and daughter Lorelei Hillman, Eindhoven, The Netherlands; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Eve is an Aramco Brat from the 1940's along with her sisters Mollie, Petie, Katie and little brother Terry. They lived in Ras Tanura during the early days as seen in the Girl Scout photograph in Ken Slavin's recent article "Dear Folks": The Webster Letters From Arabia, 1944-1959.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701.

Burial will be in the family plot in Huron, South Dakota. Mom, Lorelei and I are agreed that the burial can wait till spring, so we'll send out a note when we have plans for that finalized.
