Chester T. Karella
Chet was born on March 5, 1959, in Fairbanks, Alaska. He passed away on March 10, 2016, at his home in Florida.
Chet graduated from Service High School in 1977, and California Maritime Academy in 1984. He obtained his Certified Safety Professional license in 2005. Chet worked as a merchant marine for some years and as a safety professional for a number of companies including Crowley Maritime, Alaska Clean Seas, BP and most recently in Saudi Arabia for Saudi Aramco.
Chet created a phone application for drivers under the business name of Dangerous Decisions. The app continues to grow in the Netherlands, where Chet won an award for his app being one of the best "new" apps available at the time.
Chet is survived by his wife of 28 years, Patty; two daughters, Sandra Harding (Jesse) and Denise Roesing (Heather); his parents, Rhodi Davidson (Bill) and Pete Karella (Betty); as well his sister, Leona Jackson (Wally); and brothers Pete (Regina) and Randy (Cozette). Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews will continue to think fondly of him.
Chet requested a party be held in his honor. The party will take place at Bayshore Clubhouse in Anchorage, Alaska, on April 30, 2016, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
