Camille Patricia Blackburn Baumgardner
Camille Patricia Blackburn Baumgardner, 49, died unexpectedly at her Clarksville, MD home Sunday, March 4. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Brian W. Baumgardner, and her children, Catherine, a sophomore at Boston University, and Cameron, a sophomore at Gleneig (Md.) Country Day School. Camille is also survived by her husband's parents, Wayne and Barbara Baumgardner of Deer Valley, Utah and Hilton Head Island, SC, and her brother-in-law, Bruce Baumgardner of Hilton Head.
Born to the late Dr. John and Marie Blackburn, Camille was raised in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, where her parents were employed by Aramco. Dr. Blackburn was King Faud's [this is how it was spelled in the obituary, and I have to assume that given the timing of our youth, it must have been Saud, who succeeded ibn Saud, and was king from 1953-1964, before being deposed by Faisal] personal dentist. Camille's childhood playmates were members of the Saudi royal family. With her parents, she travelled the world before attending Kent School in Conn. for her high school education. She received her BA from Goucher College in Baltimore and her MA from American University. In 1986, she and Brian were wed in St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Hilton Head, SC, honeymooning in Bermuda. Brian and Camille worked and lived in the Baltimore area all their married life with Camille specializing in communications. She was a member of the Junior League of Baltimore and a sustaining member in recent years. Camille was an accomplished horsewoman.
A memorial service was held March 10 in Columbia, MD. Here is the link for the funeral home that has a photo album of Camille over the years: http://obits.dignitymemorial.com/dignity-memorial/obituary.aspx?n=Camille-Baumgardner&lc=4325&pid=156316068&mid=5020369&locale=en-US
Aramco ExPats was informed of Camille's passing by friend, Selena, who writes: "I'll personally always remember her voluminous, striking, red hair and her love of horses. One never likes to hear of the passing of a classmate, particularly so young with so much life to look forward to and as we are celebrating a milestone this year."
