Anthony Molin Pais
Anthony (Tony) Molin Pais was born on January 30, 1926, in Pocahontas, Virginia, the youngest of seven children. He earned his degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Polytechnical Institute, and embarked upon a colorful, storied career that spanned four continents and five countries. The first chapter of a 26-year overseas oil industry career began in Las Piedras, Venezuela, where he met his school teacher wife of 66 years, Ruth Mary (Rebel) Bell. A perennial citizen of the world, he moved on to assignments in Peru, Australia, and lastly, Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia, where he worked for Aramco from 1973 until his retirement to Austin, Texas, in the early 80’s. Decent, loyal, and highly principled, he was utterly devoted to his family, and upon retirement, embraced his new full-time vocation as avid baby-holder and dedicated dispenser of well-meaning advice to his loved ones.
Tony passed away peacefully on February 21, 2022 at the age of 96, surrounded by all four of his children, who will miss him dearly.
Preceded in death by his wife Rebel, he is survived by their four children, Mary (Bob), Nancy, Stephen (Dawn), and Carol; as well as their seven grandchildren, Jesse (Laura), Savanah (Gareth), Auguste (Katy), Winter, Bella, Sawyer, and Beckett; and four great-grandchildren, Opal, Evelyn, Vivian, and Ulysses.
