Al M. Neelley passed away Aug. 14, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospice in Tucson, Ariz.

He was born Nov. 19, 1930, in Pittsburgh, Pa. He graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School in Pittsburgh and after one year at the University of Texas, joined the Air Force during the Korean War. After his service he attended Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh where he obtained a Degree in Civil Engineering.

Al worked for Aramco (American Arabian Oil) from 1954 to 1962. He held positions in New York, the Netherlands and Saudia Arabia. He returned to the states and earned a Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering at Stanford University in 1963.

He was hired at Crown Zellerbach Corporation in 1963 and held engineering and management positions in California, Louisiana, Washington and Oregon. He was vice-president and resident manager of the Wauna, Ore., paper mill for James River Corporation from 1979 until his retirement in 1990.

After retiring he travel extensively with his wife, Susan. He visited over 60 countries around the world. He had homes in Green Valley, Ariz., and Sunriver, Ore.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; four children, Deborah Harrington of Seattle, Michael Neelley of Bellingham, Annette Mitskevich of Castle Rock, Colo., and Allison Bangle of Portland; and three grandchildren.

Burial will take place in American Falls, Idaho.
