Aramco "grannies", Karen Fallon and Jo Watts present the storybook When Camels Sing, dedicated to all Brats. The book features the indomitable equines of the desert, camels, and tells the story of Abdullah's herd of young camels and the colorful adventure they have on a bright and sunny day. These camels, each with a different and distinctive personality, experience an event that may never have been experienced in the desert.
Meet the cast of characters: Batool, Yousef, Sayed-Ali, Nassir, Hazem, Fatima, Ibrahim, Hannah, Reem, and, of course, Abdullah.
Friends since the '80s, Karen and Jo joined creative forces to deliver a story and illustrations that, as Karen remarks, "tie us to the sand and flare of our Saudi homes." Once a story told to Mary Ann Reilly's grandkids, Karen says of the project, "This cutie has now been recorded for all to enjoy, and getting famous Bastrop County artist, Jo Watts to illustrate it has made this a journey worth every minute."
When Camels Sing will be presented at the upcoming 19th Biennial AramcoBrat Reunion in The Woodlands, TX. The grannies, Karen and Jo, will have the book at their Saudi Memorabilia Table.
