Piñata Time!

The Udhailiyah Jebel Dining Hall was elaborately decorated with a Latin theme June 21 in honor of the Latin Fiesta Night thrown there. The fun-filled evening included Piñata for the young and dancing to Latino beats for the old(er). Over 175 Udhailiyah community members along with about 50 members of other Aramco communities celebrated the evening with good food and live music.

Typical Latin American dishes were served by Dining Hall staff who had been given recipes and preparation instructions from various ladies on camp.

Latin Food

Guests were treated to the sounds of Mar Caribe, a new band led by Marcelino Ortegon and created by Udhailiyah community members specifically for Latin Night. They were such a hit that they may be playing at future events as well.

An informal dance group, composed of local ladies who are in an excercise group with Beatriz Moreno Fuchs de Nunez as their group leader, danced to the music of Mar Caribe. They represented several nationalities including Japan, Nigeria, India, and Malaysia. Beatriz, who coordinated the event with Walter Nunez, is from Colombia.

Ray Waites Takes the Cake

Ray Waites and Nicholas Lopez were the evening's emcees. Because Ray Waites' birthday was on June 21, the same day as the event, organizers had a surprise cake serenade  for him.
