Al Marri previously served as vice president of Public Affairs.
Talal H. Al Marri has been appointed as senior vice president of Saudi Aramco Community Services, effective June 1, 2023.
Previous to this, Al Marri served as vice president of Public Affairs since September 2021. As Public Affairs vice president, Al Marri oversaw a diverse portfolio: global corporate communication, commercial sponsorships, including Formula 1 and cricket, among other sports, as well as citizenship programs, including King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra), all with the goal of improving Aramco’s reputation, maximizing its influence and the trust of its stakeholders globally.
Al Marri joined the company in 1995 as part of the College Degree Preparatory Program for Non-Employees (CDPNE). In 2000, after receiving his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, he started his career in Safaniyah; the world’s biggest offshore oil field. In 2007, Al Marri joined the Shaybah Producing Department and Project Management team to oversee oil, gas, and power generation expansion projects.
From 2009 to 2012, Al Marri expanded his international experience with roles in London and Seoul, supporting the Shaybah project working with international EPC companies.
In 2012, Al Marri was appointed superintendent of Oil Operations at the Shaybah Producing Operations Division. He remained in Shaybah until he was appointed acting director of Government Affairs Eastern Province in July 2015.
In January 2016, Al Marri was appointed acting director of the Public Relations Operations Department, until his permanent assignment in April 2016.
Given his international experience, in November 2017, Al Marri joined International JV Holding and became president and CEO of Aramco Overseas Company (AOC), where he served until August 2021. At AOC Al Marri handled company investments and treasury operations in Europe. During this role, he completed the digital transformation of the organization, transforming transactional functions to focus on the company’s value-add to customers. While on this assignment, Al Marri also served as a member of the Shareholder Committee for ARLANXEO, Aramco’s wholly owned subsidiary in The Hague, which is a world leading synthetic elastomer company.
Al Marri has completed a number of leadership courses, including the Aramco Management Development Seminar (SAMDS), the Saudi Aramco Leadership Forum, Communications Mastery, and the Stanford Executive Program.
