A visit to Canada is incomplete without visiting Niagara Falls. My family planned a tour of this wonderful nature’s masterpiece located 128 Kilometers from Toronto.
Niagara Falls, located between the border of the United States and Canada, is not technically owned by anyone. This famous landmark is a natural wonder, just like a mountain or a lake, and it is owned by the respective government bodies on both sides of the border for preservation and conservation purposes.
What words describe Niagara Falls?
“Magnificent, powerful, beautiful, awesome, stunning, surreal and hypnotic”.
A study concluded that Niagara Falls wears its way back approximately one foot per year.
Upon arrival, Niagara Falls looks as below from the roadside
We bought the tickets from Niagara City Cruises counter at the entrance.
Admission ticket rates were as follows:
- Adult (13+ years) $33.50
- Child (3-12 years) $23.50
- Infant (2 & under) Free
After scanning the tickets, authorities directed us to board the ship.
Before Boarding, a pink color rain cover suit was provided according to individual sizes, this is to protect from the shower, while passing close to the falls.
Due to the thunder and showers of water, passengers on board screamed with excitement once they got wet, and the beauty of it all, smiles on each face, everyone loved it.
My granddaughter Hamna enjoyed it too.
A steep funicular was used for getting to the boat ride, while an elevator was used for getting back up once the tour was done.
Niagara Falls is recognized as having the greatest flow of any waterfall throughout the globe. The falls have more than six million cubic feet flowing over the top of the falls every minute.
At first, I was under the impression that Niagara Falls is one of the seven wonders of the world, it was quite a surprise that it did not even find a mention in the unofficial list of seven wonders of the world.
“Niagara Falls is the hanging tongue on the face of the earth, drooling endlessly over its own beauty.” ~Vinita Kinra
Overall, it was a mesmerizing tour, I urge Aramco Expats readers to visit this place at least once in their lifetime.
