In 1961, Exploration marked more than 1 million man hours without a lost-time incident with a celebration that reached across five different locations.

November 4, 1945
First Nights in Passing.....
Our Hallowe’en Dance on Thursday Nov. 1 was a huge success. It was well planned and thoroughly enjoyed by the terpsichoreans, the stag line, and the sitters.
Each table was dimly lighted with a candle falling within the nearest substitute for a pumpkin. The dance floor, a new addition to the sphere of creation, was glimmering, eagerly awaiting suffering rhythmical feet. Behind that was another dais where the band held forth. Suspended from wires were two large pumpkins, red of course, which added to the illusion of the ornateness.

Exploration Achieves Goal Without Lost-Time Injury
Recognition was given last week ot the Exploration Department for its having achieved 1 million-man-hours without a lost-time injury. Appropriate ceremonies took place in five different locations in the Rub' al-Khali, where exploration parties were handed an API Accident Prevention Award and individual prizes.
The period during which the Exploration Department made its award-winning achievement began Feb. 17, 1960, and extended through May 1, 1961. Exploration's safety record remained intact through at least through October 1961.

Rock-Country Singing Star Presented by AEA Chapters
Johnny Tillotson, singer and entertainer from the U.S., is scheduled to perform in Abqaiq, Dhahran, Ras Tanura, and 'Udhailiyah in AEA-sponsored programs from Nov. 3 through Nov. 9.
Tillotson, who has performed all across the U.S., Europe, England, and the Far East, had 23 consecutive records in the Top 40, some of them rock, some country, and some crossover. Among his hit records are "Why Do I Love You So," "Dreamy Eyes," "Jimmy's Girl," and "heartaches by the Number."
Tickets are priced at SR20 in all areas for the show and dance programs; charges will be additional when the program includes dinner. Admission will be by ID card only.

Mobile Library Active in Jiddah
Saudi Aramco Exhibit Mobile Library tours in the Jiddah Area recommenced Oct. 5. Visits to 81 elementary schools are scheduled for the 1996-97 school year. Last year, during visits to 41 schools in the area, 2,690 books were loaned to 13, 450 students.

S-Oil to Expand Onsan Refinery
At home and abroad, Saudi Aramco is committing itself to the petrochemicals industry in a big way.
On Oct. 20, Saudi Aramco joint venture S-Oil inaugurated its Onsan Refinery Project, which comes less than two weeks after the company and The Dow Jones Chemical Co. signed the Sadara joint venture shareholders agreement.
Among the 1,000 people celebrating the launch were South Korea President Lee Myung Bak, Saudi Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources HE Ali I. Al-Naimi, and Saudi Aramco president and CEO HE Khalid A. Al-Falih.
