Grandma

She was a forgiving woman
The most forgiving I’ve known
Wrongs, slights, anger,
All forgiven by that most generous soul.

She was knowledgeable,
Knowledgeable about human ways,
Not with knowledge gained from books,
But from her inner soul.

Faith, healing, loving were her essence,
For family, friends and people from afar,
Sitting peacefully with a gentle smile
In her Hijazi dress,
With its white shirt and silver buttons
Scented with anbar,
Bringing up generations,
Generations who will remember her,
Her story, her essence to be followed, taught and told.
