During Ramadan, generosity can be shown in many different ways, from sharing kind words to volunteering for charity work. The holy month encourages all who engage to do the best for themselves and for others around them, as it purifies hearts and souls from greed and selfishness.
In line with this, a special gathering was held in the Dhahran Gardening Nursery recently, where a representative group of 300 locally employed Gardening and Sanitation workers were presented with duffle bags containing gifts of food and personal care items in appreciation of their ongoing daily contributions within Aramco communities. Others who could not be present have also received the gifts.
The gathering is the fifth year of this initiative of giving, recognizing, and celebrating the ongoing efforts of these workers. It has become a Ramadan tradition under the direction of Rania Moualla, founder of the ZADK Academy — a nonprofit organization from Saudi Arabia’s food sector, which helps drive social change and Saudization efforts, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 — and brings together teams from the Dhahran Women’s Group (DWG), the Dhahran Women’s Exchange (DWE), ZADK students, Scouts, and staff from Community Services.
Team members worked together to fill more than 1,200 bags for distribution, while sponsorship from ZADK, the Lulu Commissary, and the DWE ensured the project was a success.
On behalf of the community, Moualla greeted and thanked all workers and supervisors, adding that it is easy to take for granted those who contribute to keeping our communities safe, clean, and beautiful throughout the year. This project provides a way of expressing the wider community’s appreciation, she said, before thanking Community Services and all others who contributed for their essential support.
The DWE, originally sponsored by the DWG, has been actively supporting social welfare within the region since 1957. The DWG was founded in 1946 and continues to play an important role in strengthening communities, and harnessing the many skills and talents of its membership to benefit and improve the lives of women and families in the Eastern Province.
