William Theodore Lindemann, 88, of Clermont, FL passed away under the care of Cornerstone Hospice and in the presence of his family the morning of March 22, 2014.
Bill was born on July 26, 1925 in Norfolk, VA to Carl Johann Lindemann and Stella Burns Lindemann. He was preceeded in death by his parents and his wives, Martha Wilson Bradley, Aretta Webb Lindemann, and Diana Burgess Lindemann. He is survived by his brothers Robert B. Lindemann (Pat) of Norfolk, VA and CJ Lindemann of Norfolk, VA; daughters Martha L. Krehely (Don) of Pensacola, FL, Marianne V. Lindemann of Leesburg, FL, and Susan L. Nelson of Clermont, FL; granddaughters Carla E. Krehely of Kennesaw, GA, and Jamie L. Nelson of Land O' Lakes, FL; grandsons Donald E. Krehely, Jr. of Pensacola, FL; Michael A. Krehely of Pensacola, FL as well as numerous nieces and nephews, 5 step-children and their families, and a host of great friends.
He proudly served in the Navy during World War II as a Storekeeper on an aircraft carrier. After his discharge he attended and graduated from Virginia Tech (VPI) in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He subsequently took courses at Old Dominion College (University) and the University of Virginia in Real Estate Appraisals.
From the time of his graduation from Virginia Tech until his death he was a Licensed Engineer in 22 states. He spent short periods of time as a loan officer and appraiser for Mortgage Investment Company in Virginia Beach, VA, Princess Anne Savings and Loan Association in Virginia Beach, VA and Norfolk Federal Savings and Loan Association in Norfolk, VA.
His principal occupation for many years has been as a Consulting Engineer but he was employed intermittently by companies such as General Contractors and Engineers, Norfolk, VA; Tennessee Valley Authority, Knoxville, TN and Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO), Saudi Arabia. His client list was vast and way too long to enumerate but think of him every time you pull into a McDonalds' in the Southeastern United States as there is a high probability that he inspected the structural steel or the poles and signage on the lot.
His family and friends will all miss his love, wise counsel and dedication to their wellbeing. He will be sorely missed by his colleagues in business and engineering circles where he was admired and respected as the "go to person" for his total knowledge of civil engineering designs, principles and practices.
