Walter Spearnak; 6/10/1925 - 3/19/2003
Walter Spearnak, a resident of Rocklin for 33 years, died peacefully with his family surrounding him at Sutter Roseville Medical Center on Tuesday, March 19, 2003. He was 77.
Mr. Spearnak graduated in 1946 from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, with a Bachelor's of Science degree in electrical engineering. During his 45-year career as an engineer, he worked throughout the United States and the world, including stints for Westinghouse in Iceland and South America. He worked for Formica Corp. in Rocklin for 15 years, from 1965 to 1980, and then joined Aramco in Saudi Arabia where he worked for 10 years, retiring in 1990.
Accompanying him during this travel and life was his wife of 52 years, Georgianna Judith Spearnak, who survives him. Mr. Spearnak was born on June 10, 1925 in McKeesport, Penn. He was an avid golfer from the time he was a teenager, when he worked as a caddy. He was especially proud to shoot his first hole-in-one at the age of 75 at a Roseville golf course. He belonged to the SIRS Men's Club of Rocklin and he was an officer in the U.S. Navy following World War II.
Two daughters, Cathy Spearnak and Julie Sears, survive him, as do his granddaughters, April and Emily Sears, and son-in-law Mike Sears. Mr. Spearnak's two older brothers and two older sisters also survive him. Private services and a small reception for family and friends were held at the Spearnak home in Rocklin.
