Ruth Janet Kruse
Ruth Janet Kruse died January 28, 2016, after a short illness in Crestwood Nursing Home.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1920, Janet, as she preferred to be called, lived a long and adventurous life.
She married her husband, Charles Harold Kruse (deceased in Port Angeles on May 5, 1984) when they were both working for Aramco in the Middle East in the late 1940s and early '50s. They were married on Bahrain Island in the Persian Gulf because Christians were not allowed to wed in Saudi Arabia, where they lived in the desert refinery town of Abqaiq.
When their son Gregory was born in 1952, they returned to live in the United States, but went back to the Middle East soon after, where they were evacuated from Iraq in 1956 under conditions of civil unrest and national emergency.
Charles and Janet lived in California, Louisiana, Texas and Oklahoma before retiring to Port Angeles in 1976.
Janet lived at the same address in Four Seasons Ranch for the next 39 years, only moving to Park View Villas in May of last year.
Janet will be remembered by many who knew her from the Investment Club, as a volunteer at Port Angeles Visitor Center, playing bridge, or computer classes. She was a strong character and a good soul, she liked to laugh and was always good company.
She is survived by her son Gregory and three grandchildren, Sarah Anne, Rebecca Amanda, and Carter Benjamin.
As per her wishes she was cremated and her ashes will be mixed with those of Charles and scattered in the Olympic Mountains they both loved.
