Rodney Frank Stebbins

Rodney Frank Stebbins, of Boulder City, passed away Nov. 16, 2013. He was born Dec. 17, 1921, in Spanish Fork, Utah. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Upon release from active service, he returned to Utah. He lived in Saudi Arabia for 17 years while working for ARAMCO, where both of his daughters were born. He was a member of the Beirut Masonic Temple in good standing. When he retired from ARAMCO in 1966, he moved to Boulder City. He was an avid golfer and was instrumental in getting the first nine holes of the Boulder City golf course built. He was one of the first presidents of the Men's Golf Association, as well as holding other officer positions in the association during the years. After retiring from the Government, he became active with the Southern Nevada Golf Association. He was also a member of the Boulder City Elks Lodge. He is survived by his daughters, Mickey (Randy) Phelps and Irene "Boon" Lilly; four grandchildren, Chris (Jennifer) Elder, Cory Elder, Sean (Allie) Phelps and Heather Phelps/ and two great-grandchildren, Riley and Chloe Elder. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boulder City High School golf teams.
