Richard Maverick Trench
Richard Maverick (Rick) Trench, aged 86 of San Antonio, Texas passed away on January 27, 2024. Born on August 23, 1937 in Manhattan, NY, he was preceded in death by his father, Paul Stewart Trench, and his mother, Jane Welsh Trench.
He considered himself a world traveler, having been to 76 countries and besides San Antonio having lived in London, New York, Los Angeles, Caracas (Venezuela) and Dhahran (Saudi Arabia). He was a Math graduate of William & Mary University and worked in data processing principally for oil companies overseas.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Maricarmen Trench; daughter, Katherine Trench Hay (James); sons, Alexander Trench (Maja and Max) and John Mings (Leana). He also leaves behind many local relatives from the large Maverick clan and relatives in England from his father's side.
Known for his love of sports, he was able to continue playing tennis almost until his death. His early years of playing baseball helped him in working with son Alexander's successful youth career in baseball and he even coached his son's private school's basketball team to a successful season one year.
Retiring from Aramco Oil Company in Dhahran at the early age of 56 allowed him to return to playing bridge, which he had not done for many years, having a number of letters to the editor published and having more time available for his family.
His love of the theater was broadened living in New York and London where he was able to see numerous stars. His photographic hobby produced photos of many countries and of numerous famous people. He also enjoyed working as the Presiding Election Judge for the two precincts near his house.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date at St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
