Richard F. Mount

Richard F. Mount, 85, formerly of Bedford, died on Thursday at Indian Oaks Living Center in Harker Heights, Texas.
Born April 21, 1927, in Bedford, he was the son of Roscoe and Myrl Mount.
He married Kathryn Yarling on Aug. 17, 1952 in Danville, and they had two children. Kathryn preceded him in death.
He earned his BA from Canterbury College, Danville, in 1950; and his MS from Butler University, Indianapolis, in 1954.
Richard spent 11 years working in Saudi Arabia for Aramco Oil Company before returning to Bedford in 1970. He was the principal of Parkview Elementary School and retired in 1992 as the Director of Curriculum for North Lawrence Schools. He loved being an educator.
Locally, he served on the Bedford Parks Board, Bedford Public Library Board, and Kenray Lot Association.
He was a member of Free Methodist Church of Bedford and LifeWay Fellowship of Killeen, Texas.
He also served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Richard F. Mount II and Becky (Rynders) Mount of Clover, S.C.; and his daughter, Julie Mount of Killeen, Texas; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother and sister.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens, with military rites accorded by the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33.
