Rashid Ibrahim al-Rashid
Rashid Ibrahim al-Rashid, 31, was bom in al-Mubarraz, near Hofuf, and received his elementary schooling there.
He joined Aramco at the age of 12 and for eight years worked half days as a trainee warehouseman, Materials Supply and Traffic, Dhahran, attending school half days.
In the Summer of 1949, he attended the American University of Beirut for three months and upon his return worked in the Training department. In 1950 he was sent to Aramco's Riverhead School in New York as a teacher of colloquial Arabic, and while there attended Westhampton High School.
Shortly after returning to Dhahran, al-Rashid enrolled on a scholarship at Aleppo College in Syria for college preparatory training, completing the two year course in one year, then finishing his freshman and sophomore college course. He attended A.U.B. under an additional scholarship and received his B.A. degree in Arts and Sciences in 1957 with a diploma in Methods of Teaching.
Al-Rashid was then assigned to the Public Relations department, being transferred to the Riyadh office in July, 1960 for one year.
In September, 1961, he was placed on special assignment for a two-year graduate course in School Administration at Teachers College, Columbia University in New York, receiving his M.A. degree in February, 1963.
Upon his return from New York, al-Rashid was placed on special assignment in various areas of industrial training. His last assignment was acting assistant principal of the Industrial Training Center, Abqaiq.
He is survived by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. [Photograph]
