Perina Whiteside Weisert

Oakhurst, California - Perina was born on the family farm in Lemoore, CA. the 5th of 7 kids. She cut fruit from age 8 with her mom and sisters to buy her 2 annual school dresses. Her dad and brothers were always in the fields. She, her parents and sister Evelyn headed to Saudi Arabia after WWII where Gus worked in the ARAMCO oil fields. There she met and married Frank Weisert, a Navy veteran, and had Cathy, Franceen and Robert. She came back to Arizona before heading off to live in Turkey, where she had Colleen to round out her family.

Coming back to the States, she ended up in Oakhurst, her forever home. Mom loved the Sierras and the friends that she played Bunco, Bingo and Bowling with. She worked at Wasuma Elementary School for nearly 20 years before her retirement. She felt she and her kids were safe in Oakhurst while Frank was in Vietnam.

She was a mom, Granny, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother to her family in California, New Mexico, South Dakota, North Carolina and Virginia. She will be interred at a private ceremony back in Lemoore, near her parents and siblings. A farmer's daughter to the end. Godspeed Mom.
