Norris C. Dutton
With his family by his side, Norris C. Dutton, 87, of Pennsville, passed away on Jan. 4, 2020. Born in Carneys Point, Norris was the son of Norris S. and Lillian A. (Comer) Dutton.
After graduating from Penns Grove High School in 1951, Norrie joined the US Navy and would serve from 1951 to 1955 as a Petty Officer 1 ST Class Boilerman aboard USS Earl B. Hall. Norrie was also a fantastic athlete; he played and excelled in football, basketball, baseball and softball. In fact, he played semi-pro football. He also enjoyed fishing and going to the shore and staying at the family home, which they call "The Shack," where many many wonderful memories were created!
Hard working and very dedicated to his family, Norrie got a job offer from Saudi ARAMCO and always thinking of the family and how to provide better, he accepted the offer and after 23 years at DuPont Chamber Works moved the family to Saudi Arabia for 11 years.
Over the years he was a role model to his family, emulating hard work, dedication, commitment, loyalty, love of family and a strong faith. He left his mark and a strong impression on those who knew him and he will surely be missed and remembered! He is survived by his children, Dawn (Jon), Stewart (Cynthia), Patrick (Connie) and Dana (Gary); five grandchildren, Bradley, Megan, Kelly, Neil and Laurie; and seven great- grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Marcia; his daughter, Laurie; and two siblings, Annamay Green and Joann Luciano.
All services will be held at the Sharptown United Methodist Church, 24 Church St., Pilesgrove, NJ 08098, on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020. The visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with the service following at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Lawnside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that donations can be made to Bayada Hospice, 603 N. Broad St., Suite 301, Woodbury NJ 08096 in Norrie's memory.
