Mrs. C.P. (Lucy) Motsch
Mrs. C.P. (Lucy) Motsch died after a sudden illness Friday, Sept. 3, in the Dhahran Hospital. Funeral services were held last Sunday in the Abqaiq Theater and burial was at Dhahran Cemetery.
Mrs. Motsch arrived in Saudi Arabia in December, 1962. Her husband is a teacher in Abqaiq's Industrial Training Center. She also leaves two sons, Joseph, 7, and William Nadir, 6.
A native Texan, Mrs. Motsch took her bachelor's degree in English and speech from Sul Ross State College in Alpine. She went on to earn a journalism degree at the University of Missouri and began a long newspaper career.
As a reporter, she worked for several Texas papers, including the Pampa Daily Spokesman, the San Angela Standard Times, the San Antonio Express, the San Antonio Evening News, and the Odessa American. She also worked as news editor for radio station KRIG in Odessa and for the United Press Association in Omaha, Neb.
Her death is a particular loss to the Sun and Flare, as she had served for the past year as Abqaiq correspondent and occasional feature writer. Her final article, sent to press last week, appears as the travel column on page 7 of this issue. [Photograph]
