Mr. and Mrs. Louis E. Goodyear
Mr. and Mrs. Louis E. Goodyear were victims of an auto collision last Friday evening on their return to Dhahran from a weekend trip to Riyadh. Funeral services were held in the Dhahran Theater yesterday morning and interment was in the Dhahran Cemetery.
Mr. Goodyear joined Aramco in San Francisco on May 1, 1946, and arrived in Dhahran in August as a senior specialist, Government Relations. He later served as administrative assistant to the vice president of Government Relations and in 1949 became a counsel in the Law Department. He transferred to the Trans-Arabian Pipe Line Company in 1955 as counsel in that firm's law department. Prior to his return to Aramco in Dhahran Mr. Goodyear was awarded the Gold Medal, First Class, of the Lebanese Order of Merit on Dec. 11, 1957. He became an Aramco senior counsel in 1959 and general attorney in October of last year.
Born in Scottsbluff, Nebr., Mr. Goodyear was educated in Denver, Colo., and attended the University of Denver, where he received his A.B. degree. He continued his studies at the University of San Francisco in California and received his L.L.B. degree in 1941.
Prior to joining Aramco Mr. Goodyear was an associate of the law firm of Pillsbury, Madison and Sutro in San Francisco. He was a member of the State Bar of California and the Bar Association of San Francisco.
Mrs. Goodyear, the former Helen Mae Vitry, was born in Kansas City, Mo., and raised in New Orleans, La.
The Goodyears were married in February 1939. They are survived by their two daughters, Mercedes, 25, and Carmen, 20, both currently at 34 Rue Clement-Roassal, Nice, France. Mr. Goodyear's mother, Mrs. Sallie L. Goodyear, lives at 2046 South Williams, Denver, Colo. [Photographs]
