Mary Kathleen "Kathy" Fast, 64, of Anacortes, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at her home in Anacortes.

She was born to Beaulah (Campbell) and Bennie Kelley on May 20, 1946 in West Covina, California.

When her father got a job with Aramco Oil Company, she and her family moved to Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia when she was just four years old and lived there for 10 years. The influence of her living abroad was immense, from her first learning the art of ballet to her extensive travels through Europe.

She returned to Anacortes to finish here high school years where she met her husband, Bill. Kathy and Bill spent their first eight years in Seattle with their three children then settled back in Anacortes. Kathy spent her life in Anacortes raising and loving her family. She also continued her love of ballet for most of her adult life. Her motto was "dance as if nobody is watching ~ sing as if nobody is listening". She truly lived by this and will be missed greatly by the many whose lives she has touched.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Fast; son and his fiancée, Glen Fast and Jessie Nichols; daughters and sons-in-law, Kelley and Scotte Hungerford, Kasey and Mike Shore; grandchildren, Morgan and Amanda Byers, Hailey and Terry Shea, and Kyla Fast; brother and sister-in-law, Pat and Johanna Kelley; sister, Gayl McAlister and her companion, John Mullender; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Evans Funeral Chapel in Anacortes with Pastor Chris Anderson officiating. A private family interment will be held at Fernhill Cemetery in Anacortes.
