Martha Ann Stauffer

Martha Ann Stauffer graced heaven with her presence on Jan 13, 2014. She had been living in the home she shared with her daughter and son-in-law, Marj and Dave Bernstrom in Boise, Idaho.

She was born on July 29, 1923 in Louisville, Kentucky to James Kenneth Scoggan and Flora Meta Fisel-Scoggan. She attended Atherton Girls High in Louisville, KY and married Roger Lynn Stauffer Nov. 8, 1941.

After the birth of their first two children, Lynne and Judy, and brief residences in Chicago, IL and Omaha, NE, she followed her husband to the oil fields of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia in 1949 where he was employed by the Arabian American Oil Company.

Their lives were full with activities and service in the Protestant Fellowship, where she directed the preschool program for decades. They were avid participants in the Arabian Hoedowners Square Dancing club. They also mentored many young "newcomers" to the company and the region, making many feel at home away from home.

She was an accomplished seamstress and needlepoint artist, achieving the certification of Master Craftsman. She shared her passion for jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles and games with her children. Her creations in ceramic sculptures, pencil and charcoal drawings and needlework decorated her home.

After 32 years overseas Roger and Martha retired to the Orlando, FL community. They were active in Northland Community Church and became surrogate parents to many Disney World performers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Lynn Stauffer and eldest daughter, M. Lynne Allen (Don L. Allen). She was also preceded in death by her parents, J. Kenneth Scoggan and Flora Meta Fisel-Scoggan and siblings: Col. J.K. Scoggan, Margaret Scoggan Cates, and John E. Scoggan.
