Mark Alan Streaker
Mark Alan Streaker, beloved son of Helen Streaker, died August 21, 2004. He was predeceased by his father Harold Streaker and his sister Alice.
Born in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, January 14, 1962, Mark loved both the country of his birth and his own country. He was a proud veteran of the US Army's 101st Airborne Division.
A graduate of Groton School, Mark took both his Bachelors and Masters Degree at the University of Texas, Austin, TX. Mark's greatest passions were his family, his friends and books. He was always ready to regale you with something he had read.
He is survived by his mother Helen Streaker and friend, Dr. Harold Sandstead and Mark's long term partner Deborah Mosebar, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends he considered family. His warm heart and generous spirit and his strong loyalty to his friends exemplified Emerson's description of success: "To laugh often; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded!"
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 28th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Friends Meeting House, 1318 West 26th Street, Houston, Texas. Phone 713-862-6685. Donations may be made in his name at the Groton School, P.O Box 991, Groton, MA. 01450, or the charity of your choice.
